Summer Update

Hello everyone. I'm so sorry that I've been away from this blog for so long. I have had a busy summer as I'm sure we all have had. I hope to get back to updating this blog consistantly soon. Successes have been slow but I've done some IP and recieved autographs from some pretty good players. I'll try to post an update on that soon. Sorry again for the pause in posting. I'll try to post on a regular basis soon. Thanks again.

Sorry about the pictures

Hey everyone. Sorry there aren't any pictures right now. There will be sometime soon I hope. I've been having problems with my PC (which is hooked up to my scanner) so I have to fix that before I get some pictures up. For now, I'll post via my laptop. Sorry about this!

Carolina Hurricanes

I was lucky enough to hound the 'Canes 4 times. Once I get the overall count of autographs I'll finish up this post.

Bobby Bonilla

Sent on 4/6/09 and recieved 1/1 on 4/24/09. This is my second success with Bobby B. He was a hot swinging feilder that played for my favorite team, the Pirates in the 90's. He was one of my favorite players when I was younger. Mr. Bonilla is one of the most reliable signers in all of sports. Card was mailed to Mr. Bonilla's home.

Mike Sillinger

Sent on 4/6/09 and recieved 1/1 on 4/23/09. Mr. Sillinger has been on a few teams to say the least. I think he may hold the record for most different NHL teams played for. Anyway, he signed one card, an 06-07 Fleer Ultra, for me very quickly. I'm very happy because the card looks great. Card was mailed to Mr.Sillinger's home.

Ian Snell

Sent on 4/6/09 and recieved 1/1 on 4/22/09. Wow, another great return. I'm really happy to get this card back because the Bucco's are my favoorite. Ian Snell is a great pitcher for the pirates. However, his record doesn't show it since he doesn't get much run support. Mr. Snell has always been very nice In-person too. Card was mailed to the Pittsburgh Pirates.

Jay Bouwmeester

Sent on 3/5/09 and recieved 2/2 on 4/21/09. Mr. Bouwmeester is a great player and an even better signer. He quickly signed and returned 2 cards to me, as he has done for so many others. He's a great defenseman that will be a free agent this summer. I'd love to see him end up with the Devils, as I feel he would bring a great presense to the Devils blueline. He signed the cards in a good spot, so that the signature can be seen. Cards were mailed to the Florida Panthers.

Kari Lehtonen

Sent on 2/3/09 and recieved 2/2 on 4/16/09. I sent these 2 cards to Kari c/o the Thrashers Practice Rink. Anybody who needs the address let me know. It was very nice of him to sign and return 2 cards to me in 2 months time. He didn't use the greatest marker, but I'm not ccomplaining. They still look great!

Alexei Yashin

Sent on 7/29/09 and recieved 2/4 on 4/16/09. Wow, my longest wait to date. Mr. Yashin signed 2 cards for me c/o his home address. He played in Russia this season, so that's why it took awhile. He had a great NHL career split between the Senators and the Islanders. I wish him the best of luck with the rest of his pro career in Russia.

Joe Smith

Sent on 3/11/09 and recieved 1/1 on 4/6/09. Mr. Smith signed 1 card for c/o Indians Spring Training. He was previously with the Mets, but he is now with the Indians. He's a good, submarine style, relief pitcher. I think Joe Smith will continue to have a great career.

Tampa Bay Lightning

All right, I know this is cominng late, but I hounded the Tampa Bay Lightning on 4/3/09. I've decided to post my in-person success by team, rather than by individual player, so that it's easier to post. (When I post by individual player it takes aabout 2 weeks to post)

Unfortunetly when I hounded the Lightning, Vinny Lecavalier was having wrist surgery so he didn't make the trip. For whatever reason, Mike Smith was also absent. Hounding was still good anyway. Here's who I got:

Martin St. Louis-3/3
Vaclav Prospal-3/3
Matt Lashoff-2/2
Josef Melichar-2/2
Ryan Malone-3/3
Steven Stamkos-2/2
Kari Ramo-2/2
Richard Petiot-2/2
Martins Karsums-3/3

I got warmup pucks from Artukhyn, Karsums, and Stamkos. Artukhyn was late for the bus and couldn't sign the one he gave me. Stamkos and Karsums signed though.

Wayne Gretzky

Yes, the "Great One" signed 2/2 in person on 3/12/09. I'm still in shock. When Gretzky appeared everybody ran at him for an autograph. I was really luck to get him to sign 2 cards. The other card is the same as the one shown above. He signed about 25-30 things, which is probably a good amount for him. These cards both look really nice, and both are signed in silver Sharpie. This is definetly my favorite success thus far. I have many more articles to update, but I just really wanted to share this success!

Lukas Kaspar

Lukas Kaspar signed 2/2 in person on 2/16/09. He signed 2 index cards. Many people felt Lukas Kaspar had far more potential. Some people think he could have been so much better. In my opinion I think he still has a chance to be great. He is still a young player and I think he has a a long career ahead of him. He was very nice, and he had some of the best manners that I have ever seen out of any pro athlete.

Autograph Grade: A+

Claude Lemieux

Claude Lemiux signed 2/2 on 12/16/09. Yeah! I'm so happy to get Claude's autograph. He returned to the NHL this year after a 5 year absence. Maybe he wants to chase the cup 1 more time! He signed a card and an index card fore me. Thanks Mr. Lemieux!

Autograph Grade: B

Devin Setoguchi

Devin Setoguchi signed 2/2 in person on 2/16/09. Mr. Setoguchi signed 2 cards for me. He signed one with someone elses marker, and one with my blue marker. His signatures on the cards look a bit different though. I wonder why? Oh well, I'm still very happy to add this future star's autograph.

Autograph Grade: B-

Cristian Erhoff

Cristian Erhoff signed 2/2 in person on 2/16/09. He signed one card and one index card. It was nice of him to add his number 44 to one card. (He has since switched to number 10). I was very happy to add his autograph to my collection, because I think he has the potential to be an All Star.

Autograph Grade: B+

Milan Michalek

Milan Michalek signed 2/2 in person on 2/16/09. I would call his autograph the nicest signature I've ever seen. Anyway, an autographs an autograph. Mr. Michalek is a good NHL forward playing on one of the Sharks' top lines. I'm very happy to get an autograph from a player with his hockey ability.

Autograph Grade: C+

Jeremy Roenick

Jeremy Roenick signed 3/3 in person on 2/16/09. Wow talk about a nice guy. He made sure everybody got an autograph, signed multiples, and took time for photos. Most superstar palyers don't do this. He signed 3 cards for me. On one he used someone elses silver Sharpie and it actually turned out great, because itwas a Kings card. I'm really happy that I was able to get these, because I think this will be his last year in the league.

Autograph Grade: A

Rob Blake

Rob Blake signeed 2/2 in person on 2/16/09. This is a great autograph to add to my collection. Mr. Blake has been a great NHL defenseman for years now. The only bad thing about this success is that he used someone elses black Sharpie to sign. (Ughh, why couldn't it have been blue or even silver?) I'm still really pleased to get his autograph anyway.

Autograph Grade: C+ (Would've got a B- if he'd have just taken my blue sharpie:).)

Dan Boyle

Dan Boyle signed 1/1 in person on 2/16/09. He signed the same type of card he signed for me in the mail earlier this year. Mr. Boyle is a great NHL defenseman and he was an All Star this year. He is one of the reasons that the Sharks are so good this year. Another great thing about Dan Boyle is that he is good about signing autographs. He signed a lot in person, and I always see successes with him through the mail.

Autograph Grade: A

Patrick Marleau

Patrick Marleau signed 2/2 in person on 2/16/09. One card he signed with someone elses black marker, and the other (an 06-07 Fleer) he signed in blue. I'm really happy to get these cards signed by Mr. Marleau. He's been a great NHL player over his career and has been to the All Star Game. Hopefully, Mr. Marleau continues to have a great career.

Autograph Grade: B-

Jonathan Cheechoo

Mr. Cheechoo signed 2/2 in person on 2/15/09. HE signed 2 cards, one of which was a 06-07 Fleer. That card ame out amazing. It looks so nice, and he signed it in a great spot. He signed for about half the fans trying to get autographs. Even though he only signed for half the fans, he signed a lot of autographs. The crowd was quite large. Mr. Cheechoo is the former winner of the Maurice "The Rocket" Richard Trophy as the league's leading scorer. He had 56 goals in 05-06. He hasn't scored quite that many this year, but he still continues to play well. Sorry the one card got sort of cut off. (I've just found a new way to do images so I'm experimenting with it.)

Autograph Grade: B+

Los Angeles Kings

The rest of the Kings autographs I recieved are all on index cards. All these guys were great signers. Here's who I got:
Drew Doughty-signed 2
Davis Drewiske-signed 2
Wayne Simmons-signed 2
Matt Greene-signed 2
Jonathan Quick-signed 2
Raitus Ivanas-signed 2
Peter Harrold-signed 2 (nice, every letter signature)
John Zeiler-signed 2
Jarret Stoll-signed 1
Kyle Quincy-signed 1
Erik Ersberg-signed 1

Overall Team Autograph Grade: A

Let me know which of these you'd like to see because I won't put up images for all of these unless everyone wants to see all of them.

Dustin Brown

Mr. Brown signed 3/3 in person on 2/7/09. All 3 autographs were on cards. This is a great autograph to have from a 2008-09 All Star. Dustin Brown signed quickly, but he made sure he signed for everybody, which was nice.

Autograph Grade: B+

Alexander Frolov

Mr. Frolov signed 5/5 on 2/7/09. He signed 4 cards and one index card. He was really nice and signed tons of autographs. One of the cards he signed was another 06-07 Fleer Ultra. Mr. Frolov is a great player and a class act. He's definetly one of the nicest signers I've ever seen.

Autograph Grade: A+

Kyle Calder

Kyle Calder signed 4/4 in person on 2/7/09. He signed 2 cards and 2 index cards. His autograph is nice too. Although not every letter, it is actually legible. One of the cards he signed was another 06-07 Fleer Ultra. I'm going to try and get these cards signed whenever I can now, because I think they look great. Mr. calder was nice and signed for everyone.

Autograph grade: A

Michal Handzus

Mr. Handzus signed 2/2 in person on 2/7/09. He signed 2 cards. You would never know that this signature says Michal Handzus. It looks more like a P and an M. Even though it isn't the greatest signature, an autograph is an autograph. He was quiet and signed for some people really quickly.

Autograph Grade: B

Jack Johnson

Jack Johnson signed 3/3 in person on 2/7/09. He signed 2 cards and an index card. One of the cards came out great and the other bubbled up a little bit, but it still looks okay. This is a great autograph to have from a possible superstar in the future. He signed for everyone who wanted an autograph.

Autograph Grade: A-

Derek Armstrong

Mr. Armstrong signed 3/3 in person on 2/7/09. He signed 2 cards and an index card. One card he signed was his rookie card, which he was very happy to see. He said it'd been awhile since he had seen one of his rookie cards. He was very nice and signed for a lot of people.

Autograph Grade: A

Anze Kopitar

Mr. Kopitar signed 4/4 in-person on 2/7/09. He signed 3 cards and 1 index card. One card came out geat, and the other 2 came out okay. I also had success with Mr. Kopitar earlier this season via TTM. He was very nice and signed for everyone.

Autograph Grade: A

Rostislav Olesz

Sent on 1/2/09 and recieved 1/1 on 2/7/09. Mr. Olesz is a young player for the Florida Pnathers, that is a big part of the team's future. The card I sent came out signed very nicely. The card is from the 06-07 Fleer Ultra set, which in my opinion, is the nicest looking card to get signed. Card was sent to the Florida Panthers. I'll put images up once I get all my new autographs up on the website.

Johan Hedberg

Sent on 11/20/08 and recieved 2/2 on 2/5/09. I recieved Mr. Hedberg's autograph in-person earlier this year. I got it on an index card (I use index cards for players I don't have a card of). When I got back home I found that I did however have a card of him. I mailed it out along with a photo. The envelope in my mailbox today was pretty beat up. The phot is in pretty bad shape. It has some water marks and part of the envelope stuck to it. The card however is fine. I'd rather have the card be better anyway. Despite some damage, I'm pleased to get this one back. Sent to the Atlanta Thrashers.

Marcel Goc

Sent on 10/27/08 and recieved 1/1 on 2/3/09. This one took a little over 2 months to come back. Mr. Goc is a good center for the San Jose Sharks. He hasn't had his best year so far. He's played well, but has struggled to put points one the board. I wish him the best of luck the rest of the season. In 2006 he played for the German Hockey Team in the Olympics. This is my second Sharks success in two days. I've seen a lot of other recent San Jose successes. I guess all the Sharks are doing their mail now. Sent to the San Jose Sharks.

Dan Boyle

All right everyone, brace yourself for a story with this one. I originally sent an autograph request to Dan Boyle in October. A month later I opened my mailbox to find an envelope with my card from Dan Boyle. Once I opened it, I realized that Mr. Boyle personalized my card but did not sign it. I don't know exactly what went wrong with this one. I wrote back to him, and included a nice letter asking him if he could sign my card and answer my questions for him. Today I recieved my envelope back. This time he did sign my card and he answered my questions. I was really happy to get this back. Sent on 11/29/08 and recieved 1/1 on 2/2/09. Sent to the San Jose Sharks (both times). All right everyone, heres an update on my scanner issues. I've found out exactly what the problem is, and it's not my scanner. I'm having trouble loading the pictures to the website. This means once I fix the problem with my jpeg converter, we'll be good to go on images. Thanks to everyone for putting up with the problem for awhile.

Karl Alzner

Sent on 11/26/08 and recieved 2/2 on 1/26/09, exactly 2 monthes later. Wow, I really thought that I wasn't going to get this back. A few days after I sent this Mr. Alzner was called up to play for the Capitals. I was really excited to see this come back! Mr. Alzner personalized the 2 photos I sent, like I asked. It was also nice of him to write "Best Wishes" and "All the Best" on the photos too. I really appreciate that. He was the 5th overall pick in 2007. Entering the season, he was the 5th best NHL prospect. I hope Mr. Alzner continues to have a good year. Mailed to the Hershey Bears (Capital's AHL affiliate). Sorry to all who follow this blog, but I'm still having trouble uploading images of my autographs. I'm having problems converting them to jpeg, so the website will accept them. As usual, I hope to resolve the problem soon.

John Leclair

Sent on 1/14/09 and recieved 1/1 on 1/20/09. Only 6 days and 2 of those days the post office was closed! 6 days ties my shortest wait ever. He used to destroy my Devils and Penguins for years. I was pretty happy when he joined the Penguins at the end of his career. This is a great autograph to have. Mr. Leclair was a three-time 50 goal scorer. Card was mailed to Mr. Leclair's home. I'm guessing a bunch of people will want this address. If anyone wants it leave me a comment with your email and I'll send it to you. Please leave me another comment to let me know if you got my email, as I think some of my emails haven't been sending.

Tuomo Ruutu

Sent on 10/25/08 and recieved 1/1 on 1/20/09. Mr. Ruutu signed my hockey card in a little under three months. Not the greatest looking signature, but an autograph's an autograph. If Mr. Ruutu stays healthy and plays well, he may be on course for a 30 goal season. Mr. Ruutu seems to be a good signer through the mail, as this is not the first success I've seen of him. Cards were mailed to the Carolina Hurricanes. Look for images soon. I think I've finally fixed my month long scanner issues!

Friday, January 16, 2009

Steve Slaton

Sent on 12/22/08 and recieved 1/1 on 1/16/08. I'm really happy to get this back. I mailed to Mr. Slaton just a month or so ago. I wouldn't have sent to him again, but I aquired a card of him. I really wanted to send the card because last time I sent photos. It took only a little under a month to come back! Last times return was only a week or so shorter. This is agreat return from a future star in the NFL. Card was mailed to the Houston Texans. Sorry still having some trouble posting images! I think I'm close to fixing this though!

Colby Armstrong

Sent on 10/25/08 and recieved 1/1 on 1/8/09. Today's mail brought back an autograph from Colby Armstrong. This is my first autograph of 2009. I actually recieved Mr. Armstrong's autograph in-person shortly after I mailed. this. I'm really happy to get this back, even though I already got his autograph in-person. I was pretty happy to see this in my mailbox today, being as I thought this would take a long time to come back. I had seen another success that took over a year. This roughly took only 2 and a half months. Mr. Armstrong has a very bright future in the NHL and I wish him all the best with the rest of his career. Card was mailed to the Atlanta Thrashers. Sorry still no scans. I actually worked out half the problem. My scanner is better, but I'm still working on my jpeg converter. I hope to fix this in a few days. Sorry for the wait!
